Shute End is the controller of personal information sent to it. Its registered details and the address to write to are given at the foot of every page.

What this site collects

Nothing. There is no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, no embedded content from elsewhere and no third-party script of any kind. The enquiry form on the contact page is not connected to a mail handler, so what you type into it stays in your browser and is never transmitted. The only thing kept on your device is a cookie preference record, described in the cookie information.

Any web host serving these pages will keep its own server logs. That is a matter for the host and is outside the company's control.

What the company holds

If you write to the company, it holds what you send: your name and contact details, the property or matter you raise, and the correspondence itself. It holds it in order to answer you and, where a matter goes further, to deal with it and to keep the records a company is expected to keep. The lawful bases are the company's legitimate interest in answering correspondence and dealing with its property, the performance of a contract where one is made, and legal obligation where one applies.

Sharing and keeping

Correspondence is not sold and is not passed to anyone for marketing. It may be shared with the professional advisers instructed on a matter, and with a public body where the law requires it. It is kept for as long as the matter requires and for as long afterwards as the company is expected to be able to account for it, then disposed of.

Your rights

You may ask what the company holds about you, ask for it to be corrected or erased, ask for its use to be restricted, object to its use, or ask for a copy in a portable form. Write to the registered office. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, which is the supervisory authority for the United Kingdom.
